That our LGBTQIA+ siblings would know that they are deeply loved by God.
That God’s perfect love might drive out our fears and anxieties in this season of uncertainty.
That the decisions of the denomination would be grounded in and guided by love.
That all people would grow in love for God and neighbor.
Prayers of Love
Gracious God of overwhelming love, tune our hearts to sing your grace. In this season of holy and active waiting, we pray that your unconditional love would provide the very foundation for resisting unjust rules, systems, and structures, which diminish our witness to all your children. Help us boldly proclaim the love you have for all persons, regardless of sexual orientations or gender identities. Make us people who affirm the gifts and graces you bestow on each and every person, including the gift of loving relationships and the grace justifying a call to ministry. Remind us that love is made real not by word but by action. Help us relentlessly pursue love of neighbor, as you relentlessly pursue us, until such time that our church truly embraces and affirms the dignity of LGBTQIA+ siblings in Christ. Amen.
God, your love is everlasting. We can never exhaust it. The more we experience it, the deeper and wider it grows. The more we use it, the more abundantly it flows. Teach us to see every person as someone to love. Give us the will and the opportunity to love generously. Amen.
Gracious and loving God, we give thanks for the abundant love that you have poured out on us and on all creation. Quicken our hearts and strengthen our wills as we seek to pour out your love and grace on all people. Give us courage to resist those who would narrow your love and limit your grace. Help us to bear witness to your love not only with our lips but in our lives. We pray this in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Holy God, Creator of love, teach me to love! Where I lack love for you, God, shine a light and sit with me. Where I lack love for my neighbor, shine a light and beckon me forward. Where I lack love for my enemy, shine a light and call me to lay down my arms. Where I lack love for myself, shine a light and wrap me in your grace. As I pray for and work toward a church where all your children are fully welcomed and affirmed, grant me the courage to choose love. In the name of Jesus, love incarnate. Amen.
