This liturgy was prepared by the West Ohio UMC Next Liturgical Writing Team
Inspired by the witness of others in the #ResistHarm movement, we offer this Renewal of Wedding Vows and Recommitment to Beloved Community resource for use in your ministry context.
The renewal liturgy affirms all the various ways we are called into covenantal, loving relationship with one another. During this season in the life of our denomination, we also felt it necessary to prayerfully recommit ourselves to being part of Jesus’ beloved community, a place for all God’s children.
We encourage you to consider hosting a community gathering comprised of couples of all orientations, singles, and the diversity of family expressions represented in your context. Some congregations may choose to include this renewal and recommitment during a weekly worship gathering while others may wish to host a special gathering. We encourage you to consider the needs and witness of your community.
Lastly, please adapt the liturgy as you are prayerfully led.
